- Linseed oil soap : A natural fat-based cleaner that is gentle on both the machine and the environment. It dissolves dirt and deposits effectively.
- Bicarbonate : A mild alkaline substance that neutralizes acidic odors and dissolves grease and dirt.
- Vinegar : An acid that effectively removes limescale, neutralizes odors and
disinfects the machine.
Step-by-step guide to cleaning your washing machine
- Preparations:
Remove all loose parts from the washing machine, such as the detergent drawer and filter. Soak these in a solution of warm water and linseed oil soap to dissolve dirt and detergent residue.
- Clean the drum:
Sprinkle 1/2 cup of baking soda directly into the washing machine drum.
Add 1/2 cup of linseed oil soap to the detergent compartment.
Run an empty wash cycle at a high temperature (60°C) to allow the bicarbonate and linseed oil soap to dissolve dirt and deposits.
- Disinfect and remove limescale:
After the washing program has finished, pour 2 dl of vinegar into the detergent compartment.
Run another empty wash cycle, this time at a low temperature (30-40°C), to remove any remaining residue and disinfect the machine.
- Cleaning rubber seals and door:
Use a mixture of baking soda and linseed oil soap to scrub the rubber seals around the door. This will help remove any mold and dirt that may have accumulated there.
Wipe the inside of the door with a cloth dampened with vinegar to disinfect and remove limescale.
- Clean the filter and detergent compartment:
Scrub the parts you soaked in linseed oil soap with a brush to remove all dirt. Rinse thoroughly and put them back in the machine.

You can make a simple but effective cleaning solution to maintain your washing machine regularly. Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
• 1 dl linseed oil soap
• 1 dl bicarbonate
• 2 dl vinegar
• 10 drops essential oil (optional for scent)
Instructions:
1. Mix the linseed oil soap and bicarbonate in a bowl until it forms a smooth paste.
2. Add the vinegar slowly, which may cause the mixture to foam a little. Stir until everything is well mixed.
3. If you want an extra fresh scent, add a few drops of essential oil.
4. Store the mixture in an airtight container. Use 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture in the drum or in the detergent compartment when running an empty machine for regular maintenance cleaning.
